The website has engaging information and spells out your philosophy very well. Well done. We have a problem with the search engines in the way the site was optimized for its meta titles, descriptions and meta keywords. Several years ago, it was the thing to do, to put as many relevant keywords as possible into the tags and that is what has been done here. It is causing you loss of ranking in the search engines, it’s called ‘keyword stuffing’. Each page should only have 3-4 of the most important keywords in that tag. I looked at the home page and the next page and both had the same meta title, without looking further, I can tell you that it’s not good to have duplicate page titles. You have 60-70 characters and spaces to title each page to reflect what’s on it and to include keyword phrases that show up and pertain to the specific page, it looks like 50% utilization.
You asked for my input and knowledge, this is part of what my business does in web development, marketing and content production using search, social and direct response wrapped into an integrated website marketing strategy. So there are improvements to help your site rank organically, but that is over time and while all that is important, it’s using direct response type of strategies to drive the right audience to your fanpage and website that can drum up more immediate activity and sales.

A simple blog to build authoritative content that contains keyword phrases that are anchor linked back to the most relevant page on your website will give you the power and control over in-content backlink building and eventually the blog will drive traffic that is educated to what you do and more inclined to purchase your products and services. That is an organic search ranking strategy. For direct response, I would set up Google Adwords vouchers on the blog and possibly on your website if it has never had an Adwords account. I would advertise not in the search part but in the Google Display network. Your email capture results are going to be higher and the bids lower than Adwords. The reason, people are on relevant websites, relaxed, reading and looking for more information on the topic and your ad is answering that call.
Then I would buy keyword phrase top ten listings in a network of about 250 small search engines for a flat fee, no bidding little competition. I have a client that for the keyword phrase ‘wholesale party favors’ he pays just under a dollar a click on Google (in his situation Adwords and not the Display Network needed to be used, as a wholesaler he did not want to show up in direct competition with his buyers who sell retail). The small search engine network ended up costing less that 15 cents a click.

In Summary
You can go about promoting online in either a stack by stack approach of marketing activities, or you attack every avenue at the same time. I can draw up a proposal by doing a bit more research on your book and site, and dividing into stacks of marketing activities that can be done separately or at once. The very first foundational thing that needs doing before anything is done at all, is keyword research that goes deep and prioritizes what to work on first. If this is not done to a deep extent then everything else is affected.

The online tools of the trade are having a website, separate blog, fanpage, twitter, uTube, and email autoresponder as a set of web properties that become an asset to your business when integrated well, and optimized. Then you are at the starting line. You have a set of tools that sit there doing nothing, until consistent marketing activities take hold.

A marketing strategy must be designed that works well and within budget constraints, so prioritizing a systematic way of going about it is critical. Building a fanpage does nothing without a strategy and activities.
